We believe passionately in our small, close-knit and highly skilled teams.

These well-balanced teams are consistently delivering great service and excellent outcomes for the children in our care, as borne out by numerous 5-star parent testimonials and Ofsted inspections.

New staff are carefully selected by other members of the team to ensure they share our caring, nurturing values and the high professional standards that we seek.

We’re great advocates of training and continuing professional development. All employees are therefore encouraged to seek higher Level 3, Level 4 and Level 6 qualifications or train in more specialist areas.

We will always recruit Level 6 Nursery Managers wherever possible or support our managers through a study programme to reach their maximum potential. Our founder, Kate Childs, is a Level 6 Early Years Teacher and provides ongoing support to our increasing number of Nursery School settings.

Kate
Managing Director
Apple Tree Nursery School Ovingdean

Hello and a very warm welcome from Apple Tree Nursery Schools. My name is Kate Childs, I established Apple Tree Nursery Schools in 2007 initially working alone as a childminder. I’ve obtained a Level 6 qualification in childcare (Early Years Teacher status) and have subsequently used this to improve the quality of teaching standards across our settings.

I passionately believe ‘Small is Beautiful’, that nursery school classes should be limited to just 20-30 spaces. This provides the best outcomes for the babies and children in our care, allowing them to retain their individuality as they grow. Nothing gives me more pleasure than seeing our children growing up happy, confident and fulfilled.

Caroline
Montessori Nursery School Manager
Apple Tree Montessori School Rottingdean

My history as a Montessori Teacher started when I was just 2 years old and myself attended a Montessori Nursery in a Church Hall in Battersea, I still remember many wonderful experiences. Since then I have had a varied opportunity of experience. Originally training as an actor, then I entered the wine industry, in which I worked in management capacity and customer service for a national wine merchant for ten years before finally committing to the discipline of teaching; something I had pondered on for a long time! I have now been working as a Montessori Teacher for 5 years and am qualified with a Foundation Degree in Montessori Early Years Education. I have also started my Level 6 BA Honours in Early Years Education and my Level 3 Diploma in SENCO training. My priority and passion is for every child to receive an early love of learning via their interests being followed and challenged; all whilst learning through play, creativity, independence, social interaction and all within a safe and nurturing environment.
